The present form of the Municipality resulted, with the “Kallikratis Program” in 2010, from the extension of the original Municipality of Trikala and the merging of the pre-existing Municipalities of Paleokastron, Estiaiotida, Kallidendrou, Megala Kalybia, Faloreia, Paralithaion and Koziaka.<\/p>\n

The present form of the Municipality resulted, with the “Kallikratis Program” in 2010, from the extension of the original Municipality of Trikala and the merging of the pre-existing Municipalities of Paleokastron, Estiaiotida, Kallidendrou, Megala Kalybia, Faloreia, Paralithaion and Koziaka<\/p>\n

The new Municipality of Trikala is divided in 8 Municipal Sections, corresponding to the 8 ex Municipalities that merged to the new biggest Municipality<\/p>\n

Every Municipal Section is divided into Local Communities, which correspond to the boroughs of the abolished Municipalities<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s Local Communities were autonomous villages or municipalities before the implementation of the \u201cKapodistrias\u201d program in 1998<\/p>\n
