Nikos Sakkas, Mayor of Municipality of Trikala was born in Trikala and graduated from the 4th High School of Trikala. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras. He completed his training in Ophthalmology at the General State Hospital of Nice, Piraeus. He holds a master’s degree in Health Unit Management. He maintains a private practice in Trikala as an ophthalmologist since 1999. He was president of the prefectural council in 2005-2006, deputy prefect of Health – Welfare – Education – Trade in 2009-2010 and municipal councilor of the Municipality of Trikala in 2011-2014.
He was Deputy Mayor of Social Care of the Municipality of Trikala 2021-2023.
He was the president of the Doctors of IKA Trikala.
He was replaced the Mayor of Trikala in June 2013 and was elected as mayor during the Municipality elections in October 2023. He undertakes duties in January 1st 2024.
